Description:
The International Logistics Supervisor will be responsible for the
facilitation, movement, and delivery of all goods, both inbound &
outbound, for the organization overall. This person will analyze,
propose cost savings, execute on efficiencies, and quickly partner
to move our import shipments, FCL and LCL and air, from origin to
destination in compliance with company standards and government
agencies, such as FMC, CFR, IACSSP, and Customs and Border
Protection. You will ensure the accuracy and completeness of
quotes, services, documentation, and billing for services. You will
establish and maintain new business opportunities from both
existing and new customer sources. You will be expected to acquire
the necessary documentation and information in a timely manner to
serve customer needs.
Additionally, this role with work closely with Operations and
Procurement to enhance the overall procedures, processes, systems,
and principles in the areas of information flow and management,
business processes, enhanced management reporting, and looking for
opportunities to achieve service level increases while closely
monitoring and reducing costs.
International Logistics Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities
include:
Handle both airs, freight, and ocean import shipments to determine
the most cost-effective means of receipt to the organization as a
whole.
Serve the customer needs and interact with all contacts, in a
customer-focused fashion at all times.
Lead, review & assist in the preparation of accurate international
shipping in a timely manner from source documents (checking for
accuracy) taking responsibility for the completeness,
cost-effectiveness, and timeliness of the transaction.
Arrange shipping documentation, clearances, shipping mode,
delivery, tracking, and notification information for all
shipments.
Assure that interaction regarding customs, air carriers, ocean
carriers, and domestic carriers is coordinated to arrange for the
handling of the product from source to delivery.
Respond to customer and/or agent inquiries in a timely manner.
Provide timely shipment status updates to customers.
Provide updates to customers if any change to shipment is
communicated from overseas agents. Includes but is not limited to
change in quantity, change in ready date, or change to vessel
arrival estimate.
Maintain careful attention to customer procedures to handle each
shipment as per customer wishes and update Customer Maintenance SOP
on regular basis to ensure updated information for all staff
members.
Confirm shipping details against documents such as pieces, weight,
volume, origin, POD, destination, etc.
Develop operations systems by determining product handling and
storage requirements; develop, implement, enforce, and evaluate
policies and procedures; develop processes for receiving products,
equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping
Analyze and improve organizational process and workflow, associate
and space requirements, and equipment layout; implement changes
Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing,
following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with
legal regulations
Review and approve all operational invoices and ensure they are
submitted for payment
Communicate customer issues with the operations team and devise
ways of improving the customer experience, including resolving
problems and complaints
Work closely with the inventory team to perform an analysis of our
inventory and ensure we are utilizing our inventory effectively,
purchasing the right equipment, maintaining solid inventory data,
and reducing sub-rental expenses
Performing additional duties as needed
Additional International Logistics Supervisor Qualifications
include:
Ocean and air freight industry information
Carrier selection (ocean, air, and domestic)
Basic knowledge to identify specialized cargo (hazardous, OOG,
overweight)
Container specifications
Export documentation
Letters of credit and other banking documents
Assist customers in import/export clearance by providing custom
declarations for shipment transactions.
Coordinate with shipping forwarders to obtain and update the
shipment tracking information for customers.
Check and negotiate letters of credit with relevant banks.
Arrange and negotiate road, rail, sea, or air freight rates with
carriers.
Prepare and maintain shipment documentation packages for reference
purposes.
Develop good customer relationships to improve business
performance.
Communicate with sales/service and other functional areas to
resolve customer problems in a timely manner.
Requirements:
International Logistics Supervisor Requirements include
Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Business, or
Engineering required MBA is a plus!
At least 8-10 years of experience as an operations leader where you
are motivating, directing, or leading at least 3-5 other leaders
(who have directs as well)
Above-average knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and
measurement tools (caliper, micrometer, etc.)
Above average understanding and general knowledge of production
procedures
General awareness and acceptance of Lean Six Sigma methodology i.e.
Yellow or Green Belt Certification is a huge plus!
