Forklift Operator/Cooler Operations #1 ID: B22OR372OR-001 Location: Medford Program: BLM Wage/Hr: $27.00 Hours/Week: 26 Minimum Age: 55 ? This position supports the Bureau of Land Management Medford District Office. ? The BLM Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the BLM to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. ? BLM ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 29 weeks. ? A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date. Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. ? The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the BLM or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the Enrollees work under BLM direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out their mission. BLM ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy, and their own financial security. Qualifications: Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in reforestation/cooler operations OR HS/GED Degree OR Previously completed training in forklift operations Knowledge of seedling codes, species types, forklift experience, silviculture experience. Duties: Manage tree cooler operations including building tree orders and managing seedling deliveries. Work involves building daily tree orders and supplying contractors with trees, and assisting with seedling planting. Seedling delivery and orders management 30% Cooler operation: building orders via forklift 60% Field inspections 10% Other: Forklift training if expired, defensive driving Health and Safety Considerations: Forklift training - BLM has staff on-site that can provide forklift training. Required Safety Gear: hearing protection, gloves, hard hat Safety Gear Use: When operating a forklift Physical requirements: Lifting heavy boxes, operating in the cold/weather, getting off and on forklift and running forklift.
