seeks a self-motivated and collaborative candidate to carry out the
daily operations of our media library and mailroom. The selected
applicant will work with the Director of School Improvement
Services to ensure SOESD provides timely and effective support
within our organization and to our thirteen component school
districts throughout Jackson, Josephine, and Klamath Counties.
Southern Oregon ESD is located in the Rogue Valley, the cultural
and economic heart of southern Oregon, home to legendary
snow-skiing, white-water rafting, kayaking, hiking, fishing, as
well as numerous cultural venues and events such as art galleries,
the Britt Music Festivals, the Ashland Independent Film Festival,

Media Materials Library Assistant III
POSITION GOAL
Assist the program administrator in managing the Media Materials
Library
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Perform opening and closing procedures for booking department as
needed.
2. Run software program for booking system, and other applications
as needed, as well as troubleshoot problems. Notify tech support
(e.g. internal (ESD) or external (vendor) when needed.
3. Perform material duplication and preservation of media materials
as needed. Preservation of media materials includes such tasks as
cleaning, laminating, and packaging, in an effort to reduce the
deterioration and damage to materials.
4. Schedule materials using booking software for pickup by teachers
or courier delivery to schools.
5. Prepare media materials orders for shipment to schools following
specific guidelines.
6. Receive materials on return from courier and prepare for
inspection and reshelving.
7. Inspect and repair media materials both physical and
digital.
8. Shelve materials.
9. Schedule/prepare/inspect Starlab Portable Planetarium for
shipment. Contact teachers as needed for the delivery and return of
the Starlab.
10. Receive, inspect, process, catalog (when needed) and complete
appropriate paperwork for new media materials for addition to the
Media Materials
Library and online data entry.
11. Create appropriately formatted files for Learn360. Upload those
files and create titles in both Leam360 and MediaNet for use by
districts' staff.
12. Provide training, instructions, and information to other SOESD
employees and staff from area schools via email, telephone or
face-to-face interaction
regarding SOESD Media Library policies, courier routes, and
delivery, and operation of the SOESD Media Library website, Learn
360, and other related
information.
13. Add, maintain and delete media materials.
14. Oversee processing, receipt and distribution of agency mail
that is sent via USPS, Fed EX, and Courier. Create monthly
statistics report and fund
transfers as needed for postal account.
15. Perform yearly inventory and maintenance tasks during the
summer of both the SOESD MediaNet site and physical materials.
16. Prepare required purchase requisitions for ordering of needed
materials for media library.
17. Market media materials and services to staff in area
schools.
18. Identify media statistics to be collected and then implement
system for tracking, collecting and reporting yearly media usage
statistics.
19. Perform job related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
20. Perform physical requirements of position unaided or with the
assistance of reasonable accommodations (see reverse).
MINIMUM PREREQUISITES
1. Able to follow oral and written directions.
2. Establish and maintain cooperative relationship with those
contacted in course of work.
3. Perform responsible clerical work with accuracy and speed to
include an ability to type, file and correspond orally and in
writing.
4. Knowledge and skills to use computers.
5. Two years secretarial or library experience or equivalent.
6. Ability to plan and organize work as needed.
7. Ability to deal with the public and school personnel in a
positive and professional manner.
8. High School Diploma.
9. Possess valid Oregon Driver's License.
LENGTH OF POSITION: 258 days
PAY RANGE: Per Classified Bargaining Agreement: $14.22 - $17.02 for
2022-2023 school year.
