The Yahoo Mail Delivery Team develops and maintains high-performing systems that reliably deliver billions of messages a day to users and the Internet. The system requires extreme reliability, resilience and performance. It is the most critical infrastructure that transfers messages across systems. The team works on problems that cover a wide spectrum - from web services, RFCs and networking layers.

Your Day

* Design, implement, test, and debug features of large-scale Mail Delivery systems to prove or deliver towards our upcoming designs & projects.


* Collaborate with a senior technical leader or architect.


* Learn from a multitude of sources, including on the job project experience, reviewing code from others, team education sessions, collaborating with peers, frequently soliciting advice & shoulder reviews from leaders & architects, as well as online or class-based learning.


* Participate in agile development with weekly sprints, planning & estimating work, daily standup, & retrospectives.


* Take initiative to identify, solve, and pursue problems you discover to full completion.


* Communicate and solicit ideas for your project.



You Must Have

* Actively pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related major, and strong record of academic achievement


* Strong understanding of the fundamentals including Data Structures, Algorithms, OS and Networking


* Experience in software development with Java, C/C++, and/or Golang


* Outstanding troubleshooting and debugging skills with performance tuning experience


* Great communication skills, joy in helping people, ability to remain friendly and constructive under stress



Love To Have

* Experience with Big Data technologies like Hadoop, HBase and Spark


* Previous exposure to anti-spam or anti-abuse engineering


* Familiarity with data mining, text processing and classification algorithms


* Experience in algorithm design and ML/AI


* Understanding of statistical methods and exploratory data analysis

The compensation for this position ranges from $45,760.00 - $135,200.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
