About the Job
We have a Full-Time job opening for a Support Specialist at our Rental Assistance Program (RAP) in Jackson County. The Support Specialist will work directly with the Veteran population and/or Transition Aged Youth (TAY) clients (ages 18-24). T ravel within the Jackson County Area will be required in this position. The Support Specialist will:
Be primarily responsible for conducting housing searches and accessing community resources Assist individuals with completing housing applications and coordinating moving arrangements Manage funds to ensure all payments are made to landlords in a timely manner, as well as negotiate with landlords around rent, deposits, etc. Assist individuals with community reintegration, teaching coping skills in an effort to help individual be comfortable transitioning into their neighborhood Assist/teach individual in completing housekeeping tasks Provide direct skills training and coaching in independent living, self-sufficiency, education, navigation the medical community, community living, etc. Strive to close the gap created by cultural or language barriers Services provided will be in accordance with individual community integration and recovery plans. In addition, you will receive crisis de-escalation training, which requires performing various physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (Full Time Day)

About the Program
Our Rental Assistance Program (RAP) is designed to help high-needs individuals obtain independent housing in the community. Clients have a diagnosis of serious mental illness and are stepping down from higher levels of care. These individuals typically face many barriers to obtaining housing and it's our focus is to help them to overcome those obstacles.

What You'll Need
1 out of 4 Criteria below:
Certified and registered as a Peer Support Specialist through the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) OR Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science: Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Human Development; OR minimum three (3) years of verifiable mental health experience working with individuals living with a serious mental illness in a supervised social service setting; OR equivalent combination of behavioral science education in addition to satisfactory supplemental mental health experience and training
Successful applicants MUST also have a valid Oregon driver's license, maintain a safe driving record, and have the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.
