Type of Requisition: Regular Clearance Level Must Currently Possess: None Clearance Level Must Be Able to Obtain: None Suitability: No Suitability Required Public Trust/Other Required: None Job Family: Patient Advocacy Job Description: The Peer Review and Science Management (PRSM) group provides peer review services for the evaluation of scientific applications submitted to federal and state grant funding agencies. The Patient Advocate, designated the Consumer Reviewer Administrator (CRA), recruits individuals to serve as consumer reviewers, alongside scientist reviewers, in peer review panels. The consumer reviewers are civilians, military personnel, and veterans who are living with, survivors, or care givers of those living with a disease/injury or condition. The CRA works with various program teams to define the consumer populations needed, identifies appropriate civilian, military and/or veteran advocacy and support organizations. The CRA develops relationships with these organizations in order to recruit consumer reviewers, and to educate these organizations on the program and its needs. The CRA interviews, evaluates, and selects nominees for service on a peer review panel; supports consumers in their service throughout the scientific peer review process; develops and presents training on duties of the consumer reviewer; and provides training for others about the consumer reviewers and their special needs and required accommodations. We are looking for a strong, experienced professional who is articulate in both writing and public speaking and this position requires a master's level degree in a health-related or other direct patient care field. Experience working with caregivers and patients/patient advocates is required. Experience in community outreach/marketing/business development in health care helpful. The CRA must be a team player as they work as part of several teams at all times and provide day to day contact with the client and other stakeholders. Strong IT skills required, SharePoint, excel experience helpful. Additionally, to be successful, the candidate must have strong organizational, time management, planning, and people management skills in order to meet metrics for the position and to work remotely. Travel is required, with overnight stays to attend peer review meetings as scheduled. These meetings can be 1 - 3 day/night stays. Required: Experience working with patient advocates and/or patients with a variety of illnesses; government contracting and/or relevant military experience. Degree - Required: Master's Degree Preferred: 3-5 years of Military experience. The likely salary range for this position is $56,000 - $84,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
