Job Description:
This position is responsible for all show related hair services
for the OSF acting company as assigned by the Wig and Hair
Supervisor and designed by the Costume Designer. Specializing in
Black/African-American and Multi-Ethnic hair services. This
position also participates in design notes, fittings,
technical/dress rehearsals, maintenance of wigs and understudy
assignments. Provides added support to the wig and hair department
as assigned. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential
Functions): Acts as the primary stylist for all OSF acting company
show related hair services as regulated by current AEA agreement
and designed by the Costume Designer. Meets with Costume Designer
to determine the hair design and process on all productions.
Performs work in a manner that supports OSFs Mission, Values &
Vision and it commitment to diversity and inclusion. Communicates
regularly with the Design Assistant, Wig Master and/or Costume
Designer on fitting needs, haircuts/color services and design
decisions. Determines supplies needed for projects. Works with the
Wig and Hair Supervisor to coordinate purchasing. Participates in
wig/hair fittings with actors and costume designers for all
productions as needed. Provides various services which include but
are not limited to: haircuts- precision and clipper cuts on
processed and natural hair, conditioning and scalp treatments,
color services- natural rinses, highlights and lowlights, chemical
relaxers, blow-outs, roller sets and thermal hair techniques.
Coordinates and schedules in conjunction with Stage Management,
actors and wig room staff for all show related hair services.
Attends technical and dress rehearsals, takes notes and makes
alterations as assigned by Wig and Hair Supervisor Works in
collaboration with Wig Supervisor, Wig Masters, Actors and Costume
Designers to execute hairstyles as specified by the costume design.
Has oversight and maintains integrity of show related hair services
and salon throughout the season. Is in constant communication with
Wig Supervisor to ensure products and supplies are efficiently
supplied and budgeted. Recommends, supplies, tools and materials
for general, seasonal and show specific inventory. Receives
training and participates in areas of backstage Wig and Hair
operations, including but not limited to theatre etiquette,
application of wigs and facial hair, basics of ventilating, wig
care and basic maintenance and styling. Participates in rotation of
understudying productions & maintenance of wigs as assigned by Wig
and Hair Room Supervisor. Participates in the upkeep and
cleanliness of the wig rooms, stock and common wig department

license is required, applicants with licenses from other states
will be considered as long as they are able to get licensed in
Oregon. Work Experience: A minimum of three years of professional
salon experience with extensive Black/African-American hair care
and multi-ethnic hair care is required. Expertise with washing,
conditioning, coloring, relaxing, blow-drying, cutting and thermal
styling Black/African American hair textures is required. Excellent
workload management skills including but not limited to: time
management, work flow management, and interpersonal and
collaborative communications skills. Qualifications/skills: Must be
proficient in Black/African-American and multi-ethnic hair
services. Must be able to learn and practice theatre-specific
protocols and procedures. Knowledge of computer software, including
Word, Excel and Outlook. Advanced knowledge of styling tools,
equipment, and the handling and use of disposal of toxic materials.
Must have the ability to maintain a professional, positive work
atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner
with actors, crew members and other departments. Must have the
ability to take direction and multitask, prioritize and execute
tasks efficiently and according to schedule. Maintains a
professional attitude when working in a fast paced environment.
Must have the ability to participate in a positive way in groups
and operate autonomously. Salary Range - $23.52 - 24.25 Term: Hair
