Cook - Providence Medford Medical Center



Work Schedule: This is a pre-scheduled on-call position. We typically 8 hour shifts with the earliest shift start time of 5:30am, and latest shift end time of 12am (midnight)



Description:



We are seeking a Cook who will provide courteous, friendly food service to a variety of user groups including employees, visitors, physicians, and patients. Primary focus will be on preparing hot and cold food items using a variety of prep and production cooking equipment, following scratch recipes and department specifications. This position uses experience and knowledge of proper food handling techniques to prep items used in their area, to serve all food service guests and will be responsible to set up, stock, and clean service areas.



Required qualifications for this position includes:

• 
  
• On the job training, formal culinary arts program, military apprentice program -OR- one (1) year experience as a cook or short order cook
  
  
• Experience in team environment with common goals
  
  
• Health Department Food Handlers Certificate required within the first two weeks of employment
  
  
• Able to follow recipes and read orders
  
  
• Able to work in a busy work environment
  
  
• Able to maintain pleasant demeanor and use good interpersonal and communication skills
  
  
• Able to observe customer non-verbal actions and respond appropriately
  
  
• Able to communicate and follow recipes and directions
  
  
• Able to create food of optimum quality within short periods utilizing previous experiences when recipes are not available
