Job Description Job Description Nursing degree, active
registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years OR RN experience
required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not
be considered. Providing specialized perioperative nursing care
across Pre-op, PACU, and Recovery areas, this role involves
rotating between multiple units within a well-equipped surgical
environment. The position supports 6 operating rooms and 4
endoscopy suites, managing 5-10 cases daily at one site and 15-30
cases at another, covering a range of procedures including general
surgery, gynecology, orthopedics, sports medicine, hand specialty,
podiatry, ophthalmology, ENT, and endoscopy. Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality nursing care in Pre-op, PACU, and Recovery
phases. Rotate between Mercy Medical Center (MMC) and OR Surgery
Center (ORSC) units as required. Monitor and interpret cardiac
rhythms, responding to life-threatening situations. Collaborate
with multidisciplinary teams including medical assistants who
support patient admission and discharge. Utilize Meditech EMR at
MMC and a combination of Meditech and paper charting at ORSC.
Adhere to nurse-to-patient ratios: Pre-op (1:2), PACU (1:1, 1:3),
Recovery (1:2, 1:3). Maintain compliance with required
certifications: BLS and ACLS mandatory; PALS preferred.
Qualifications and Experience: Registered Nurse with experience in
Operating Room, Pre-op, PACU, and Recovery nursing. Proficient in
Meditech electronic medical records. Ability to interpret cardiac
monitoring strips independently. Prior experience supporting
surgical specialties such as general surgery and orthopedics. Phase
1 and Phase 2 recovery care competency required. OR license is not
required at time of application; a 90-day emergency license request
is supported by the facility. Shift and Scheduling Details:
Contract position with 5 to 8-hour shifts, flexible start times
between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Scheduling is
managed by leadership; travel nurses are expected to be adaptable
to cover staffing needs. No weekend, night, or holiday call
requirements. Floating between MMC and ORSC units is expected.
Scrubs are provided, and orientation includes general onboarding,
unit-specific preceptorship, and ongoing support. About the
