Reporting to the COO, the Director of Engineering & Operations serves a key role as a member of the Senior Leadership Team. This position requires a hands-on leader that can effectively develop and manage Engineering, GIS, and Project Management, ensuring superior quality and safety standards in production and fiber optic plant design & engineering. This individual is responsible for establishing performance standards, driving accountability, facilitating training, effective communication, and adapting to growing/changing business needs. An individual with a strong background in all facets of cable, fiber to the home, telephony, engineering, and operations who is also an inspirational and effective leader will be the ideal candidate.. Define, track, and ensure accountability to key production and quality metrics for the OSP engineers, GIS technicians, and project management.. Maintain day to day oversight of production and quality assurance related to engineering, splicing, and safety in accordance with standards, guidelines, and regulations.. Supervise all pre-construction joint-use related activities.. Work with pole owners and other licensees on collaborative joint-use efforts and issue remedy as needed.. Work with internal staff and foreign pole owners to negotiate and/or modify joint-use agreements as needed.. Work with Engineers, GIS, and Operations Employees to help procure necessary Right of Way (RoW) permissions and other easements/permissions/permits and/or navigate issues encountered regarding RoW permissions and other easements/permissions/permits as they arise.. Partner with Construction and Installation & Maintenance Management to ensure adherence to all applicable joint-use guidelines/standards; conduct post construction QA/QC inspections as needed.. Develop network architecture plan with GPON and FTTX deployments and engineering.. Work with Project Manager for internal escalations and ensure timely resolution.. Ensure projects are tracking on time, within budget, and in adherence to established performance metrics, reporting on status regularly.. Function as an effective team manager in hiring, coaching, mentoring, and facilitating training programs for employees, partnering with HR as needed for employee performance development.. Develop internal standard operating procedures as needed for efficient operational management.. Work with Finance & Accounting to develop, maintain and adhere to department budgets.. Represent Hunter Communications regionally with trade groups and associations, as needed.. . Requirements:. Minimum five years' experience in all facets of cable, fiber optic, telephony engineering operation, and construction.. Must be able to read and comprehend telecommunications-based technical drawings and documents.. Experience with process improvements within the telecommunications industry.. Two years' experience in permitting, make ready and Right of Ways.. Demonstrated experience as metric-driven leader with excellent problem-solving skills, balancing performance and quality, clearly communicating expectations to the team and management.. Ability to take initiative with confidence while being an effective team member.. Maintain impeccable integrity standards of self and team members.. Adapt and function effectively, with limited supervision, in challenging and changing environments.. Effective verbal and written communication with the ability to clearly explain issues with all levels of employees.. Possess a valid driver's license and safe driving record.. Proficient in Microsoft and Google applications such as Project, Excel, Word and Power Point..
