TEACHERA resume must be submitted to be considered to this position.Full-Time, Excellent Benefits and PaidTime OffStarting Wage: $18.22 - $26.57 per hour, based uponEducationBilingual Starting Wage: $19.13 - $27.90 per hour, based upon EducationPURPOSE:The classroom Teacher develops strong nurturingrelationships with children and provides them with a developmentallyappropriate learning environment with meaningful experiences in preparation fora successful kindergarten experience.This position develops quality partnerships with encouragement of familyengagement in their child's learning.The Teacher is committed to improve his/her own competence throughongoing academic and practical training.This position is responsible for meeting Head Start performancestandards and following the Agency policies and procedures.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:I.CHILD EDUCATION AND CURRICULUMA.Work directly with children individually, in small andlarge groups.-- -Provide for their safety, guidance, andeducational development;-- -Plan and conduct educational program that bestcharacterizes developmentally appropriate practice in the Early ChildhoodEducation field;-- -Individualize children's education program;-- -Use the assessment information to individualizethe curriculum to build on each child's prior knowledge and experiences and toprovide curriculum experience that support learning and development;-- -Be knowledgeable regarding the Child Guidance Procedureand its implementation;-- -Assist all center classroom staff withimplementation of PBIS strategies;-- -Be responsible for the development of guidanceplans and support implementation and monitor those plans for all identifiedchildren in the center;-- -Collaborate and support the development,implementation, and monitoring of guidance plans for all identified children inthe center;-- -Be familiar with and oversee the implementationof the Curriculum Guidelines.B.Apply for all children principles of diversity, equityand racial justice. Applies, to theextent possible, principles of least restrictive environment for children withdisabilities.II.OBSERVATIONS, SCREENING & RECORD KEEPINGA.Conduct developmental screening and assessments forassigned children.-- -Complete and submit within the requireddeadlines.B.Take accurate, objective and complete observationsdaily on assigned children.-- -Enter observation data into the data managementsystems in a timely manner.C.Maintain accurate and timely written and electronicrecords.-- -Complete data entry of records in required database systems within required timeframes/deadlines.III.PARENT PARTNERSHIP/FAMILY ENGAGEMENTA.Develop partnerships with parents in regards to theirchild/children.-- -Conduct and document home visit/familyconference which are designed to strengthen parent engagement. Incorporate this information into childassessment and curriculum planning;-- -Participate in parent activities, i.e., parentmeeting, family days, etc.;-- -Provide brief informal training at parentmeetings as required.IV.COMMUNICATION AND DEBRIEFINGSA.Communication and debriefing with staff at center andin classroom.-- -Attend and participate in staff meetings,planning meetings, and training;-- -Conduct/Facilitate weekly Education Planningmeetings;-- -Facilitate open communication and promote groupproblem solving;-- -Participate in daily classroom team debriefing;-- -Participate in bi-weekly child staffing meetingswith the Family Advocate and others, as required.B.Represent the Head Start program as a member ofmanagement modeling a positive approach to our mission.C.Bilingual Teacher - Facilitate interpretation of datain all forms and provide accurate information to the children and theirfamilies requiring interpreting assistance.V.STAFF EDUCATIONA.Participate in regular training and technicalassistance activities with the Education Department.-- -Actively seek to maintain and increasecompetencies;-- -Serve as on-site educational resource for allclassroom staff.B.Represent Center Education staff on various Agencycommittees and projects, as assigned.VI.INTERACTION WITH CHILDREN, PARENTS, AND CO-WORKERSA.Must relate in a positive, nurturing way, both verballyand physically, and be sensitive to the needs of children, parents andco-workers.B.Must use quick, safe reactions and responses in dealingwith children or situations that involve children.VII.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETYA.Maintain a safe and pleasant work environment.B.Follow safety regulations, policies, and procedures.C.Actively contribute towards promoting a safe workplaceand environment.D.Maintenance of center facilities, equipment andmaterials.VIII.OTHERDUTIESMay be assigned other relatedduties as appropriate and within the scope of general responsibilities for thisposition. BA/BS in ECE or ChildDevelopment preferred. May qualify for aRegion X waiver with a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credentialora Step 8 in the Oregon Registry Pathwayandenrollment in an accrediteddegree program. Requires a minimum of 15hours of professional development per year.Certification orAccreditation:TS Gold Inter-RaterReliability required; Enrollment in the Oregon Registry Pathways required; CPR/FirstAid Certification and Food Handler Certification required (certifications maybe obtained after hire).Experience:Minimum one year teaching young childrenage birth to 8 years required; preschool age specific preferred. Direct staff supervision responsibilitiespreferred.Essential Skills:Excellentinterpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and computerproficiency. Ability to apply theunderstanding of developmentally appropriate activities of children; meet andpromote the social-emotional, physical and cognitive development needs ofchildren. Ability to provide and model best practice inECE and to facilitate team development. Leadership, staff training and supervisionabilities.BilingualTeacher must possess language proficiency tofacilitate interpretation of data in all forms and the ability to provideaccurate information to children, families and the public who requireinterpreting assistance.Essential MentalAbilities:Must be organized,flexible and resolution oriented.Ability to multi-task, make sound judgments and demonstrate appropriaterole modeling. Ability to maintain fulland complete attention to children at all times. Ability to work as a team member and to beself-directed.Essential PhysicalRequirements:Ability to lift/carryup to 40 lbs. a distance of 10 feet. Ability to push/pull up to 40 lbs. adistance of 10 yards. Sufficientmobility and range of motion to perform repetitive standing, walking,balancing, stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, sitting on the floor,reaching, squatting, kneeling, and twisting for up to 8 hours per day. Sufficient stamina to perform job duties atfrequency required. Ability to reactquickly to the physical actions of children.Ability to perform physical requirements of bus driver and/or monitorduties: Ability to operate a motor vehicle.Sufficient vision and hearing to perform job duties. Sufficient manual dexterity and eye-handcoordination to perform job duties.Exposure toHazards:Unpredictable child andfamily behavior, hazardous chemicals, contagious conditions, work with personalcomputer and other office equipment.Driving and riding in motor vehicles and school buses.
